Why can I onpy have 5 notifications from an app at a time?

For example, for YouTube, I can only have 5 notifications and then if I get 1 more then it will replace a notification. I know it is not a problem with YouTube because I have tried it with different apps and I get the same results. I have looked all over the internet and have not found a solution. Hoping somebody can help!
