Hey everyone had to make an account to ask this question from fellow android experts, because i am a bit annoyed, and i need your help.

So I had an older phone (iPhone), and when people where on the phone with me, they would NOT be able to hear my incoming text message tones, or even my texts messages being typed out to people, or even know that i am watching YouTube clips during the phone call...

But for some reason with my new phone (got the S6 edge+), anyone who is on the phone with me, can literally hear incoming text messages, my YouTube clips being played while they are on speaker phone, and my texts typing.. It is a bit annoying sometimes and I would like to know how to solve this problem. Maybe I have a defective phone?

Sometimes I have a friend who keeps on rambling on, and, on, and on about life, and I want to be able to play a YouTube clip without him knowing... NOW he can hear it >_> lol

does this happen to anyone else? any feedback from other people who have tested their phones on this annoyance would be greatly appreciated..

Welcome to Android Central! Is it just if you're on speakerphone? What if you're on a regular non-speakerphone call, and start watching a YouTube video? Can the other person hear it? Maybe you could test that out with a friend (whom you don't find boring ;) ).

The thing about speakerphone is that the mic will pick up any nearby sound. So if the phone's speaker is blaring the latest Taylor Swift song, the speakerphone mic will pick that up, along with your voice. I'm not sure if this is the case if you're not on speakerphone, which is why I suggested the above.

Like the person said above, or use a headset.

well the thing is, i tried it with my girlfriends new iphone 6s plus, i told her to put me on loudspeaker, and put a video clip from YouTube on very loud... I heard nothing on my side super quite.. I try it with my s6 edge plus, and she can hear it loud and clear lol.. also she can hear incoming calls that are coming in while i am on the phone with her. which can be a bit annoying if i am making a business call, and someone tries to get a hold of me multiple times, and they can hear it on their end, and say "hey, are you gonna get that?"
BUT... you might be right it might just be because she is in loudspeaker and the sound from the speakers are so close to the mic that she can hear the feed.. I will have to try and test it out without putting on loudspeaker..

thanks for the replies guys.. this is a beautiful phone and i start to nitpick lol..

What I get from this is....don't try to watch porn while on a phone call with your girl. There is a good chance she will hear everything. Thanks for the info!

There are 3~4 volume controls in Android: Media, notifications/calls, alarms, and device. You should be able to change the notification volume during video play.

What I find equally intriguing is how the iPhone blocks out the YouTube audio when on loudspeaker. That's intuitive.
