Why can't Android do this?

For the first time I am slightly jealous of the iPhone. A co-worker showed me the new Flipboard app. Functionally it's just like Pulse but it has a very nice interface. So why can't Android apps have interfaces like that? If you've seen Flipboard you'll know what I mean. Maybe there are apps out there that can flip through items like that, but I haven't seen any.
