Why can't Facebook and FB Messenger access my Google Photos?

Hi all!

I use Google Photos as my default on my Samsung Note8 and when trying to upload or share some of my older Google Photos it doesn't even find them. I can only seem to upload and share new photos I've taken or saved since owning this phone! Is there a way to sync older photos to the Samsung Gallery app so this works? I know I can go in to the Google Photos app and share that way but there's got to be a way to sync right?

Please help as this is really frustrating!

Ensure in the app permissions Messenger / FB are allowed to access Google Photos.

Been looking to do this myself but I cannot find this setting. When I check setting, apps, Facebook, permissions I can't see photos

For some reason Facebook can only see Google Photos on devices like the Pixel where it was designed to use Google Photos as the primary/default app. So you'll have to download your photos to your gallery app.

Hi. Under app permissions I have storage ticked but nothing extra to select. This is actually on a nexus 6p so would have expected it to be integrated.
