Why can't I access my internal storage on my phone when it is connected to my window 7 computer

When I connect my nexus 4 to my computer. It connects and all that and my phone says it connected to my computer but when I try to find my phone's internal storage on my computer, it doesn't show up. Can someone help me?

Look where your drives show up. Do you see the phone? Open that. Do you get two "folders", Phone and Card? Phone is the internal storage.

Is your screen unlocked? Internal storage won't show if your phone is locked.

If it is, look in settings>storage on your phone. Hit the three dots and make sure mtp is checked under USB computer connection.

Wubba lubba dub dub!

I have this problem with the droid turbo. I tried installing motorola drivers and what not. I even called motorola support, they couldn't help me. Anyone got any ideas? In device manager, my droid turbo(XT1254) is under "Other Devices".

Same problem here. Never had a phone I couldn't see on my computer before. Droid Turbo, Window 7 on an HP laptop. Downloaded the Motorola Device Manager, no help.

Update...I did what funnylumpkin suggested on the settings on my phone. Thanks!
