Why can't I copy music files? Why is my phone constatnly checking for software upgrades?

Can't copy music because phone keeps checking for software upgrades

I recently switched from an iphone to the galaxy S5. I'm trying to drag and drop my itunes to the new phone, but it keeps stopping just as it gets started because a window keeps popping up saying that the phone is checking for up grades and then says the phone is up to date. How do I turn "checking for new software" off long enough to transfer my music?

Go to settings then software update and disable software update tick

Are you talking about dragging and dropping music right from your iTunes on your computer to the phone? I'm pretty sure that is not going to work as it's not an iPhone. The way I've always done it is to go into the actually iTunes music folder on the computer and copy files that way.
