Why can't I get any messages like OTPs on my Xiaomi 1S?

I cannot get any SMS, which is very annoying considering I do online banking a lot.

Hi, are you able to receive calls or is only text messages you can't receive? have you tired speaking to your service provider encase they have some assistance to offer?
