Why can't I get my Samsung Galaxy S4 to turn on?

I can't get my Samsung Galaxy S4 to turn on

It had a little over 20% battery life, and I thought i was just turning it off normally but the screen that usually asks if i want to power off or restart didn't come up and the screen went totally black. i have left It on the charger for about 30 mins, nothing happened. There was no red charging light, no vibration notification. I've attached it to my computer and still nothing. when i take the battery out of the phone, and put it back in my phone vibrates and the samsung icon comes up for about 5 seconds on the screen and then dissapears. What is going on??/ Help please

Your battery might be shot. My phone was doing something kinda similar. When it got to 20% the phone would shut off. And when i turned it on the battery some how lost 20% and went to 0.
