Why can't I get my texts read aloud with new Honda Odyssey and my Samsung Galaxy Note 8?

Just bought a Honda 2019 Odyssey LX. Traded in the 2016 which had the ability to notify me when a text came in, read it aloud and even had a few quick responses to choose from. Now, I can't get same phone to do that even though Honda is saying the feature is still there and my phone should be compatible. I don't know who's at fault - Honda or Samsung but would love to have this feature back as I have four kids who like to text me when I'm driving. Btw, my phone can easily pair with the car so I have calls handfree and bluetooth radio so text feature should work as well. Please help.
