Why cant i get widgets onmy android 9 pie. I have a cdicket I-con

My Android 9pie which is a Cricket I-con won't allow me to put widgets on my screen. I would like the time to be on my home screen

Welcome to the forums. Do you get the option to add widgets if you long press an empty spot on your home screen?
