Why can't I load Widgets in Nova Launcher 4.0 on Samsung S5?

Can't load Widgets in Nova Launcher 4.0 on Samsung S5

Nova Launcher will not show widgets in the current iteration. It gives this long winded explanation on how to show widgets. But when I follow it, you can't check the widgets you want.

Help.

I'm using Nova and if I long press an open area I get the widget option at the bottom. Not sure if that's what your looking for.
