Why can't I permanently delete emails in Moto G Lollipop. they continually reappear as unread, new etc.?

Cannot permanently delete emails in moto g lollipop. they continually reappear as unread, new etc.

The problem started to happen after downloading lollipop (fine with previous os)

Welcome to the forums. Have you tried resetting the device? It may need to rebuild the OS framework.
