Why cant i root my textnow phone?

I have a moto g 3rd generation (2015) and it was ordered from TextNow. I decided I wanted to root the phone so I look on YouTube on how to root cause none of the one click methods work like kingroot or kingoroot. The video explains I'll root it through boot loader and twrp and something like that. Mind the video is relatively new like 4 months old. I get to the part where I need to unlocked boot loader but #1 its already been unlocked and I didn't do it myself? So when I got my unique verification code for the final process and I enter it the cmd says it failed somewhere along the line of it not being the right command for this certain part. Now in the video it says when it does unlock the phone on the boot loader screen should says its unlocked in yellow. But it was unlocked before. So what's the issue?
