Why cant i sear for gifs on my samsung s9+? there is not search function in the "write message box"

[Android Central Question]

In the native samsung keyboard i cant seem to find where the search function is when looking at gifs. This is in all apps including whatsapp and the native test app. How do i search for gifs without having to download another keyboard like swift key. help!

when I click on the icon you suggested there is no GIF option (i can access limited gifs through when the keyboard pops up). i get a screen with stickers but cant search those either. using samsung s9

I have the same issue, it only allows me to pick from preselected titles fun,happy,omg,trending. No search tho

when you hit the square emoji in the text field box (as seen in the first screenshot above) it will pull up the column of stickers on left and gif on the right. Select the gif column and then you will see exactly what the screenshot shows, a floating search bar which stays fixed at top.

I have the same issue but when I hit the squar emoji to go to stickers it only says stickers. There is no GIF option on the right.

That's odd. It works on mine. I have an AT&T version.

My layout is the same as yours, strikeIII & the gif search works. US T-Mobile version.

I can confirm, on Verizon and I do not have that symbol to search Gif's. A workaround I found is I hit that "Plus" symbol right before message box and then hit gif on bottom, then there's a search on top in upper right. I'm not sure if this workaround is because of the Textra app I'm using or on everyones?

Edit: So after testing and switching to samsung messages that gif box was there. Message plus didn't have it or textra which I use now. So it must be what message app you use and not the keyboard

FIX- TEXTRA.. I had the same issue, but realised in textra you dont use the GIF on keyboard. I'll show you the steps to search GIFS =) Textra has their own search function.

Follow these steps-
1: go to textra and into a message you want to send a gif to,

2: click on the plus logo on the left in the middle of screen next to message writing section

3: go to GIF in the bottom right corner

4: search and send =)

Same issue here. Galaxy S7 Edge, T-Mobile. Got a system update the other day and now the GIF search feature that used to be there is gone. When I first clicked the GIF, it said I had to agree to the giffy keyboard. That seems to be the problem. Not sure if that can be disabled or if the old functionality will come back.

On the T-mobile version, you have a Plus sign to the left of the search bar. click on that and it will give you the option of gif search.

The previous posts were discussing the native messaging app or the messaging app Textra.

Your screenshot shows that you are in Facebook messenger and you have already clicked the "+" on the left hand side. To get to a gif search you would need to click in the text entry box to pop up the keyboard.
