Why can't I sign into gmail after changing the password?

Cannot sign into gmail after changing password.

This morning I changed my gmail password from my laptop. This evening I was not able to sign into gmail from my phone, even though I typed in the new password. I tried clearing the cache, data, restore to factory, etc. What can I do now? Thanks.

Try going back to the laptop and logging in, its possible that you changed it in the morning, then the rest of the day the wrong password was being used by your phone triggering additional security measurements that you need to address from a desktop. As soon as you log in from a desktop then try your phone.
