Why can't I transfer pics etc from my Motorola E 5.1, when I could yesterday?

Why can't I transfer pics etc from my Motorola E 5.1? I could yesterday.

I have often transferred pics from walks etc to my PC, today, the only option available to me is to charge the phone. I have downloaded the USB drivers, re-run it and done both a repair and a new installation. Still no joy.

It could be a bad cable or connector (there are 4 wires in there - the two for charging are still evidently good, but one or both of the wires for data, or their connections in the connectors, aren't.)
