Why can't Nokia 7 Plus return to the previous place

[Android Central Question]

Example: I am reading an article which is the 8th in a selection. After that I want to read the 16th and the 25th article. After having finished item no 8th the back button takes me back not to the 8th item but to the very top of the list to article no. 1. Scrolling down to find the 16th, after finishing that I am again taken back to the very beginning so have to scroll all the way down to no 25.And so on...

It started a few months ago. The only exception I could find is Google News.
Anybody has any good ideas please?

That's up to the app that's doing it. To change the action, you'd have to rewrite the app. (Evidently the developer changed it and your phone updated to the new version. Contact the developer and ask if they can revert that one action to the previous way.)
