Why can't Yahoo Messenger be downloaded on the Galaxy Tab S2?

Going to Google Play I chose Yahoo Messenger to download on my Tab S2 and immediately a message comes up that it isn't possible with the tablet. If the tablet is so 'new' then why can't this be done?

Apparently because it is a tablet & not a phone.

That can't be right. I managed to load the new YM to my iPad since the old version no longer functioned. I do have YM on my Android phone but I use my tab more than my phone. I think YM has a few more bugs to work out with their program.

I think there are a lot of apps that Google won't let you install from their store but if you can get the .apk from some other source & install it on your own it would probably work OK but maybe won't do landscape view.

I had an experience like that with an ESPN app on my Nexus 7 a couple of years ago.
