Why display sucks more battery than a movie?

I am currently using my S3 ICS, but If i let the screen (display) with auto brightness on, for say 4 minutes, it will lose 1% of battery at that rate, so, 90 minutes would be: about 23% loss (90 mins / 4%)=22.5.

Ok, so, if playing a video, a movie 720p with sound effects and stuffes could drain less battery than just watching a display without widgets? Please explain it to me.

S3 is an led screen, the main factor with led screens is the color white. Led drains HUGE power displaying white. This is why i set my forum apps to display in dark format (black background, white text)..... That is why the fruit phone battery lasts longer than us amoled guys, lcd uses like 1/4 the power to display white... Try setting your wallpaper to a dark color picture.

couldnt have explained it better ^^ true black uses zero power so with apps like Appy Geek, Android Central, Stumbleupon, etc, set a black background.
use the "invert colours" widget when reading big text based web pages etc.
screen will ALWAYS be the biggest drain while its turned on and its a big screen ;)

On my phone you hit the menu button and it brings up the options

Auto Brightness is working 24/7 because its constantly figuring out the best brightness level for your display, and that energy will take a lot of battery power

If you turn auto brightness off and keep ur brightness at a steady percentage, the phone will not have to work and you could watch a movie at a steady brightness and your battery wont go down

Ok, another question... where is the back and forward buttons or icons in the browser? there arent any? (ok to forward, instead of the back button).
Look at my capture

Ah I see, you do not have the updated version of ICS yet thats why.

The latest version of ICS is 4.0.4, which is the version I have
You must still be on 4.0...you may have to use an alternative browser until you get the update

And this was his picture Funk
