Why do all of my songs come out in separate folders?

All my songs come out in separate folders.

I would really appreciate some help. I have music on my pc, most of which I bought as individual mp3s of Amazon and elsewhere. On my computer the file comes enbeded in 2 folders. For example, 1st folder "Fairground Attraction". Inside this, 2nd folder "The First of a Million Kisses". Inside this "02 - Perfect". Wen I was transferring to my nexus 4 I went into the folder to copy the actual file and put them all in one file on my phone. However on my phone they have come out a separate files. I would really love to be able to play music in my car again esp. what in my day we called a mix tape. I have just gone from a car with a broken tape recorder to one with blue tooth. (seemed to skip the CD stage!) I just don't know how to get the music onto the phone in a way that will play from one track to the next. As I am sure you have worked out, I am not tech savvy to say the least. I have not problems using ordinary files and directories but these mp3s must have all kind of things that I don't understand and no matter what I try I can't seem to get them to end up where I try to put them. Any ideas gratefully received.

Welcome to Android Central! The issue is that most music players sort tracks using their embedded ID3 tags, which contain information about album, artist, track number, etc. So even if you put them all in one directory on the phone, the music app will still split them up into their respective albums, even if it's only one song per album. You could create a playlist and put all of the songs in the playlist. Another solution would be to install a 3rd party app that sorts by folder hierarchy, like MortPlayer Music.

Thank you B diddy, I will try the app, as I'm afraid to say I don't know how to make a play list. I found play list on the phone but couldn't work out how to make one so the app sounds great. Thank you very much for you help. Netty
