Why do I have such slow charging?

Really Slow Charging! Like REALLY REALLY slow!!!

So I've had my G3 for a while and while I've had some troubles with it, it hasn't been anything too serious. This problem is extremely frustrating however. The G3 is know for charging slowly, but mine is charging extremely slow. Like, 10-20 minutes just to charge a single percentage. I've looked all over and can't seem to find any help for this rare brand of slow. I really rely on charging my phone over night because I need it for an alarm and I won't have any time to charge throughout the day, so the fact that the estimated charge time is over 20 hours is worrying. I've tried different charging cables, bases, outlets, and even charging through my computer, as well as soft resetting. I have dropped my phone in water before, but that was a year ago and it was treated immediately. I've seen no side effects whatsoever. Please, any suggestions on what I can do?

Welcome to Android Central! When you plug into a wall outlet, does it say "Charging (AC)" or "Charging (USB)" in the Settings>Battery menu? If it says USB, then something is probably wrong with the microUSB port, especially with the history of water exposure.

Water damage can be unpredictable and insidious. It may be that the initial exposure caused initial corrosion that wasn't enough to cause issues, but then over time, it progressed enough to severely impact the charging circuits now.

Try another charging cable.

Yes, it charges just as slow.

It says AC when plugged into the wall and USB when plugged into my laptop, as usual.

I can definitely see this being a possibility. Whenever I've got some money I intend to get it checked out. Until then, I've just been leaving it plugged in the minute I get home so I hopefully won't have any problems.

I wonder if it may be a bad battery? This could be a possibility.

I would try a flash back to the factory image and see what happens.. The KDZ or TOT method.

Check the fine print on the charger. Is it an older 0.7amp charger? If so, that's why, and get yourself a 2amp block

Check your charging port for dust or debris. You can use compressed air or a toothpick to clean it out.
