I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and for the past few months, whenever I am on a phone call, and then receive a text, the icon appears at the top of the screen but I don't hear the faint sound in the background to alert me to the text. My phone is used for work. If my boss is texting me for an immediate answer, he'll have to call me upset and ask why I didn't respond to his text. I've exhausted efforts to check all notifications-app manager, mobile data, sounds, alerts, etc. Any ideas?? TIA!

Have you checked phone settings?
Notify when on call, I'll leave a screenshot
I've been through my phone and I don't have that specific option, "notify during calls". I will hear a notification when another call is coming in but nothing when a text is coming in. So frustrating. I'm afraid maybe a system update caused this and I'll end up needing a newer phone.
