Why do my emojis send as blank boxes??

Hi, I have a question. When I send emojis on my Motorola G Play it shows up as a blank box, why does that happen?

Is this with Google keyboard and google message app?

What phone and what messaging app is the recipient of your messages use? Are they using an iPhone?

Welcome to Android Central! Also, does this happen with all of the people you send emojis to, or only certain ones? If it's usually just one person, ask them if they have their mobile data on. Emojis turn a message into MMS, which requires mobile data to be on.
