Why does camera open in landscape?

It's so annoying. I take most of my pictures in portrait, holding the phone straight up, and while holding it up I open the camera and the screen is acting like I'm holding it sideways. I have to flip it sideways then turn it back straight up to take a portrait picture. Any suggestions on how I can make it friggen portrait if I'm holding my phone upright?

Why? Because most people take photos in landscape. How to fix your problem? Sorry, can't help. I wish manufacturers added more settings to defaults in these things.

Good luck,

Tom

You can just take the picture in portrait without rotating the phone to landscape and back. The "sideways" buttons will right themselves as soon as you do, and the photo orientation is determined by the position of the phone, so it knows it's a portrait even if the buttons don't show it prior to the first shot.
