Why does email work intermittently on my Huawei Mate 20 Pro?

I’ve just switched to a Huawei Mate 20 Pro after years of iPhones. The Huawei email app worked fine for a couple of weeks but now only downloads incoming emails intermittently, for example once a day, although I can see the emails have arrived on other devices. I’ve tried restarting the phone etc. Outgoing emails seem to be OK.

What email service are you using? Huawei Email app does push for Exchange email but seems to not allow push for Outlook. May be try using the Gmail app? It supports more email services now...
