While messaging or using other apps on my phone, my phone will suddenly go to google play. How do I stop this? It is extremely annoying

Welcome to Android Central! Does it open to a particular app's page? Is it usually a game? If so, there's probably some adware installed on your device. Try installing an app like TrustGo Ad Detector. If that doesn't find anything, then you might have to uninstall apps one by one until the behavior goes away. You can also check the reviews on Google Play for the apps you've installed to see if anyone else complains of adware.

That app won't work on 4.4.4 on my S5, it pops up and disappears so fast you don't think you even activated it.
I uninstalled it.

I am becoming very suspicious of the above mentioned app, TrustGo Ad Detector

My S5 have been very quick to respond to my commands.
Unlocking the screen and ready to go immediately.

I tried out Ad Detector, and it did not work. I looked at their website for the "full version" and didn't like what I saw there.
I uninstalled Ad Detector and thought all was okay again in Denmark.

Now, just a few hours later, I have been having trouble getting the phone to recognize my finger sliding on the screen to Unlock the Pattern Draw.... I thought I was going to have to pull the battery to get it to respond to me.

Then, very slow, it started responding, I had to slow down the draw speed, which is normally just as fast as I can move my fingers.

As soon as I got it unlocked, I had it do a Restart.... and it is still slow....
I just now reactivated Verizon's Support and Protection antivirus software and had it do a scan.
It came up clean, no alerts at all.

One other item I did today that was different than the past weeks, I installed ACR "Another Call Recorder".
At first, I thought it was the cat's meow. Worked like a charm. then it didn't... it stopped.
Looked at the settings, they were all result to NO? what?
So, I reset them all so that it would do what I wanted it to do.
Made a test call and it recorded the call "it says", but there is no audio on playback. I verified that the volume control was at max.
I just uninstalled that one too, if it isn't going to perform as it should, then it get thrown in File 13.

I'm a bit perturbed as I am leaving on a two week vacation at 0500 tmw morning and don't have time for hi-jinks like this.

I hate it when something great gets broken..... off to see what I can find, I am just so pissed, I had to write it up while the AV software was running.

Hmm, interesting. I was basing the TrustGo recommendation on prior reviews of TrustGo's antivirus app, as well as Google Play reviews, but I admit that I've never used it myself. The other ad network detector I've recommended in the past is Lookout's.

Posted via Android Central App.
Please excuse any typos or autocorrect derps.

I have used Lookout before and no issues with it on a Galaxy S.

Have not tried it on the S5, but VZW AV app says all is good. gonna let it ride with that.

Powered it down, left it off for 10 minutes and turned it back on.

For now, it seems to be back to normal.

It's almost like the thing was running something in the background that was hogging all of the cpu time, but I have the phone set to close all apps when I exit them. Should not be happening.

I have been doing a LOT of reading on this phenomenon on various forums. On one they say the culprit is Music Paradise. However on my Note 4 it isn't. I finally got sick of wondering and figured I would take it into my own hands. I read about adblockplus.org. It isn't downloadable on google play as it's primary function is to block intrusive ads like the ones that take over your phone (ie: surfing a web page from a link and getting pushed right into google play for some stupid game I don't want). They do let some ads through so it doesn't kill everything unless you select it to and you don't have to use Root.

I think that until google gets control of these intrusive ads that a lot more people will be going this route. If they change their policy and or acknowledge it, I will consider allowing ads again.

hope this helps. So far I have tested it (only 2 days now) and when I click on a link in tinfoil for facebook, no ad is commandeering my phone and pushing me to play store. So far so good.

I also have AdBlock Plus running on my S5, and has been there for months. Don't recall when I installed it, but with my penchant for avoiding ads, it would have been very early after buying my S5 in April last year.

I also had to sideload it because it was removed from the PlayStore

I copied the below from my last post 06-22-2014, on this a while back.... the info was provided by Wizzrah (Ambassador) here.

Google has banned all ad blocking apps from their store.

Here is a link on their website: https://adblockplus.org/en/android

Here is also the Firefox add-on you can put on your browser: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...us/?src=search

This is an article from a while back: http://www.androidcentral.com/google...ps-google-play

For fun, here is Adblockplus' official statement: https://adblockplus.org/blog/adblock...gle-play-store
