Why Does is Notification Area and Home/Back Button Area in Red?

Just took my Pixel 2 XL off the charger and noticed the top and bottom borders of my screen are in red. What's up with that?

Solved. I must have inadvertantly set my phone Battery Saver to 'on'.

It's been so long I've had to use Battery Saver (never with the 2 XL) that I forgot what it looked like!

FYI, on Android 9 Pie, only the battery icon turns red.
