Why does Motorola device manager not install?

Why does motorolla device manager not istall.

I have to transfer some of my mobile data to my pc. I connect my motorola droid razr with computer via data transfer cable. I tried several time but window show "An internet connection cannot be established". I downloaded MDM manually but it only shows device software updates instead of mass storage. please some one help me how can i access my device and sd card data using PC.

Do you have all the correct drivers installed? What version of Windows are you using?
