Why does my Galaxy S5 say that earphones are plugged in but there not?

my galaxy s5 says that earphones are plugged in but there not

every time i turn on my phone it says there are earphones plugged in

Its a problem that does crop up from time to time, a number of Galaxy's have had this issue and other phones. You will very likely need to get the headphone jack replaced. Do you have insurance or is it still under warranty?

My headphone jack was just dirty, lint and stuff. It did the same thing.
