Why does my HTC M8 Lollipop crash during phone calls?

HTC M8 Lollipop crashes during phone call

My M8 upgraded to Lollipop about 3 weeks ago and ever since then the upgrade it intermittently crashes when I use the phone to make a call. The call app crashes and the phone becomes unresponsive. It happens about once every 48 - 72 hours. It gives the option to send an error report, but that doesn't work and the only fix is to reboot.
I'm not using the phone very much (once or twice a day).
