Why does my Kyocera Hydro Wave lockup on all screens after Android Update?

My Kyocera hydro wave locks up in all screens and resets to same problem. Multiple 20 second holds of the power button simply reset it to same problem state. I had my phone fail yesterday so I bought another brand new one that does exactly same thing after an update was forced to install(metro pcs does this). I'm very frustrated and want to smash it into little pieces

Update is probably bad.

Boot into recovery and format the cache and see if it helps.

If not do a factory reset, and don't let it update.

Thank you. How do I boot into recovery? The only button that works is the power/ reset button after holding 20 seconds which only resets back into problem

Big Thank You! was able to get it to boot up long enough to get into settings and do factory reset- works OK so far!
