Why does my Moto G on Kit Kat 4.4.4 occasionally reject calls as soon as it rings?

My Moto G on Kit Kat 4.4.4 occasionally rejects calls as soon as it rings.

Calls are rejected so quickly that I'm not able to see a missed call in the log. Also, there are no voice messages to be retrieved so I don't believe that calls are sent to voice mail. And I notice that with most incoming calls, I have an error message saying "Contacts has suddendly stopped" that must be acknowledged before the call is answered. Any suggestions?

Are you able to see who is being rejected in the call log? If so have you checked your call reject list to make sure they were not put on it by mistake?
