Why does my Nextbook Ares 8A refuse to power on?

I have owned a Nextbook Ares 8A with Android 6.0.1 for nearly three months, but the other night, I plugged it in to charge, and something strange happened. I was using the tablet perfectly fine, then I powered it off because my battery was at 20%. When I connected it to my charger, the red light on top turned on, but the charging screen did not show. I unplugged it and attempted to turn it back on, but nothing happens at all other than my CPU severely and instantly overheating. What do I do, and is there a way to fix this? I have retried charging, rebooting, and resetting the battery several times with no luck.

Welcome to Android Central! The battery may have failed -- the heating you feel is probably the battery, and not the CPU. Contact the manufacturer, if it's still under warranty.
