I noticed that after being inactive if I start walking my steps won't always get counted. It takes a few seconds to start up. Anyone have this issue

It depends on where you wear the pedometer, but your body could be absorbing the shocks of the first few steps. (The best pedometers are very inaccurate, because the human body is different from person to person.)

I wear it on my left wrist. it was never an issue with the phone as would register my first step however the Gear Fit takes awhile. I just walked around the house for 30 seconds and not a single step was registered and yes it is turned on.

mine does that too but then suddenly it'll catch up. It's like it's counting the steps but not posting the correct count at first after being idle a while or when first powered on.

If it's on your wrist, the shock of your step travels up your leg, up your torso, to your shoulder and down your arm. If you have very flexible joints, that's not going to happen very well (which is why low on your ankle is the best place for a pedometer of any kind).
