Phone battery drains even when completely turned off

I have Sony Xperia SL with me for about a year now. It was okay until few days ago. The phone battery suddenly drains faster than it should be. I figured this might be temporary so i turn the phone off whenever i am not using it. But something weird happened, the phone battery continue to drain even when the power is completely off. Before i went to bed last night, it was at 53% power, so i turned it off. Few hours later i tried switching it on again, only to find the battery level had dropped to 17%. This is completely abnormal..is there any way to solve this?

It sounds like the battery might be dying. I believe your battery is not meant to be user-removable, so you'd probably have to bring it to a Sony service center or a local repair shop to get a replacement battery. You might find some do-it-yourself videos on YouTube, if you're handy.
