Android Central Question

My phone battery will say it is on 100% and then when I unplug it from the charger it dies at an alarming rate and then I can sometimes power it back on and it will be somewhere around 45% charged but shutdown again and again.it basically only works when it is plugged into the wall charger unit with a USB cable like normal.what is the problem?do I have a virus?are there dead energy cells in my battery that could've came with the unit in the box brand new?are there any other explanations?is it possible for a remote access application stored and running on another device to power down my phone?

Definitely sounds like a bad battery, probably from letting it discharge too far constantly. It could also be a dendrite, but from the description it sounds like it's been drained too far for too long.
