Why does my phone do this?

A lot of the time when I browse the Internet I get a little banner appear from the top of the screen showing me battery, signal etc when it shouldn't appear when browsing the Internet. Why has it started showing me this?

I've always had battery, signal strength, etc show when browsing the internet. The only difference is when I'm on Wi-Fi it'll show a darkened out 4G icon which became a new thing on KitKat.

Never had it show before but it only started a few weeks ago I think. Thought maybe I had a virus making it do that seems I had mobogenie download automatically on my phone. As long as it's normal then that's good.

If it happened concurrently with your update to 4.4.2 you're fine.
