Why does my phone not recognize my SIM card?

Suddenly my LG G3 has stopped recognizing my SIM card. I was charging my phone and when I came back to check on my phone it said that no SIM card is inserted.

I've noticed latetly that my phone gets really hot when I'm charging it so might that be an issue? Also, the SIM card works fine I've tried putting it in another phone and it worked normally.

It does sound like the phone needs diagnosis by a repairer. I suppose it may be worth trying a new battery first, if you can find a good one, and are prepared to gamble the cost.

I think most G3 issues can be attributed to the LPDDR3 soldered on the SOC. The solder joints go bad. The only think that appears to be a permanent fix is to remove the chip and reball it.
