Why does my phone only charge when turned off?

Phone only charges when turned off

Hey guys, I have a Jiayu S3 phone and I've had it for the past 6 months and has worked just fine up to a couple o days ago.

So a couple of night's ago my phone ran out of battery while I was using it, I went to sleep and in the morning I put it on charge. It charged just fine when turned off, but after letting it charge just enough to be able to switch on, I noticed that wouldn't charge...

The device is not rooted and its not a charger problem.

Hope somebody can give me some insight into whats happening

Welcome to Android Central! Try charging it up fully before trying to power it back on.

I've done that allready , I've also let it discharge to 0%. I'm starting to think that its a software issue but not really looking forward to reseting my phone if not completely neccecary

Can you replace the battery yourself? The battery may have also failed.
