I have a Droid Turbo and when I connect to *externally powered* speakers via the audio jack, the sound comes through fine, but when I try to plug in my headphones and listen to music that way, it does not recognize that they are connected and no sound comes through. Already cleaned out the jack, so there's no debris in it.

Are the headphones wired for the Turbo? Tip is left, first ring up from the tip is right, 3rd ring up from the tip is ground.
Normal stereo headphones (tip = left, 1 ring = right and shell = ground) should work, since they short the mic pin, telling the phone to use the internal mic.
Any other wiring won't work.
