Why does my phones screen go berserk on USB charging?

My phone screen goes berserk on USB charging

Hi,
I am using Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

I have a Thinkpad with Windows 7 that I used to connect to to charge my phone. All was fine.

I got a new laptop from office. It is an HP with Win 8.1.

When I connected my my phone with a USB cable, its screen went berserk.

Notification light, Waterproof Warning and Install PC Companion were appearing and disappearing very very quickly. Notification light was blinking like that of an ambulance.

I connected a Sony Xperia Tipo. Same happened to that phone too.

I connected a Samsung S4 and all was fine. It was charging and exchanging data with the laptop.

Then I connected my phone (Z1C) to a desktop and the same cable. It charged but very very slowly.

Please help....I love my phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Try using a different cable. Is the one you're using right now the one that came with the phone?

usually this should not be done
