Why does my S5 5.0 Verizon wireless in the top left hand corner lock the screen blocking notification icons?

S5 5.0 Verizon wireless in top left hand corner locks screen blocking notification icons

I have a verizon S5 and it just upgraded to the new OS. Now I have a very annoying problem. On my lock screen it says "Verizon Wireless" in the top left hand corner. This blocks all my notifications icons so I have to unlock my phone to see them.

Welcome to Android Central! It doesn't block your notification icons, because the notification icons don't appear in that area on the lockscreen any more. They show up as lockscreen notifications, as long as you have them turned on in Settings>Sound & Notification>When Device Is Locked. (The menu option might differ slightly in location and title on the S5--that's how it is on my Nexus 5.)
