Why does my Samsung Galaxy S3 keep turning off and restarting by itself?

Hi I am new to this page, and I am looking to find out why my phone keeps turning off on its own, it has been doing this for about a week now, I have already tried updating it and setting it to factory mode, didn't help.

Welcome to the forums. Take your battery out and see if it is swollen. You can easily do this by placing it on a smooth surface and trying to spin it. If it does, it needs to be replaced. If it is swollen, why it is shutting off is the curve created swelling is causing a poor connection.

I received my new A3 Samsung 4 days ago and from the word go it restarts itself even while on a desk. The dealer did a system reset and checked/changed settings but today it happened again once; it may be improving? Dealer wants me to return lock stock & barrel to be sent to where ever but I need to wait 7 days which is difficult as it's an important work device.

Had the same problem, turned out that the power button was getting stuck. Was able to re-position it without opening the phone, but not sure how safe that is to do)

Hey I'm kinda new here my galaxy s3 keeps shutting off very often. I have to keep my charger plugged in for me to use. It never pass the home screen once i plug it off
