AC Question

why does Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 tablet all of a sudden lock the screen and demand a password?

I never had a password for the screen when the Galaxy Tab 2 starts up and simply had to swipe the lock to unlock. Today for the very first time since I bought the tablet (over 2 years ago!!!) the screen will not unlock unless a password is entered. But I never had a password on it. So how do I unlock the screen? I am technologically not very savy as an elderly person--it is for these reasons that a password was never installed or used when the tablet was set up! Thank you for your kind help and suggestions as to what to do.

Welcome to Android Central! What does that screen look like? See if you can take a picture of the screen, then post it here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-how-post-screenshots-android-central.html.

Does anyone else have access to your device? Could someone have set up a password, either by accident or as a stupid prank?

You could try going to Android Device Manager to reset the PIN: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/3388218?hl=en
