Why does my screen go blank when making or receiving calls on my Sony X3?

Screen goes blank when making or receiving calls on my Sony X3

I have just updated the latest android version 5.1,1 and now when I make a call from my contacts or key pad or when I receive a call the screen goes blank. I can hear sounds but cannot see anything due to the blank screen.
Can any one help.

Try a Cache Partition wipe, good practice after a system update.
