Why does my SD Card randomly fail to mount on my HTC One M8?

SD Card randomly wont mount in HTC One M8!

It mounts and is read in laptop and used to work fine in phone but now when I insert it and like every two minutes "preparing sd card" pops up at bottom then disappears and nothing happens. It used to work and I have pictures movies music and even apps on it now it won't mount!

Welcome to Android Central! First, insert the card back into your computer and back up all of the data NOW.

Can you try a different card? If other cards behave this way as well, then the problem is probably with the SD slot itself. Maybe there's some debris in there--use a can of compressed air to blow it out. If that doesn't help, you might have to bring the phone in to a repair shop for a closer look.

If other cards work fine, then something about the card has been corrupted, which is causing specific problems for your phone. I would then copy all of that backed up data to a new card, and use that one.
