Why does my video camera stop recording after 26mins?

[AC Question]

I'm using my HTC One M8s' video camera as dashcam, and I have noticed that it switches off after a while, and I have to press the VideoCamera button again.
Looking at my recorded files, they are all 26:56 in length.
I've looked in the Settings, for both Camera and SD Storage, but I can't find any options on this issue.
Is that just a standard feature, or is something else happening? I have enough storage space.

Welcome to AC.

Have you tried a Cache Partition wipe?

Have you also tried unmounting and removing the SD card, which may be causing trouble?
