why does my wallpaper keep changing?

I've changed to my own pictures other wallpapers on my phone but it keeps changing. Has done it for awhile since I had the phone. Don't think it's anything I have installed since all wallpapers I have used and it reverts back to are the ones that came with the phone.

Which phone and android version do you have? Are you using a custom launcher or just stock?

You could try to set the wallpaper from the launcher and not from your gallery or any other app. Longpress on a blank spot in your screen, tap on change wallpaper and select the app and picture. See if that makes a difference. There're some phones that this process couldn't work.

That has been happening to me too sometimes since I've been on Lollipop. I happens whenever a crappy app or games crashes out. It will reset me back to the blue crinkled looking stock wallpaper.

This has been happening to me too, since I upgraded to lollipop. There's no rhyme or reason to it for me. I'll be doing something on my phone and when I go back to the home screen it will be the ugly stock wallpaper. I seriously hate lollipop. My phone is a total piece of crap now.

I have the S5 and it updated to the lollipop. I tried what you said to do but it still does it.

This happens to me too, ever since Lollipop came and started messing up a perfectly great phone. Doesn't matter how I've set the wallpaper or what app I've been using (or not using, occasionally it's happened when I just keyed in my PIN from the lock screen). While the first "fix" update since Lollipop at least improved its tendency to get as hot as the blazing sun, the lags and this particular quirk are driving me crazy. So much for the freaking flagship phone I paid for last year. It would be nice if Verizon et al would offer a one-time early upgrade to the S6 to those of us whose S5's were ruined by Lollipop. I don't want to "edge up"; I want my phone to work as well as it did before they "improved" it!

I was able to conclude that every time that I logged out of FB, my wallpaper would change back to the default so I went to settings >Application , Manager>Facebook, and cleared the cache, cleared the data, Forced stop, uninstalled the App in the google play store, reset my phone, reinstalled the app and the problem seems to be resolved. I hope this helps.

For me (S5, Lollipop), my phone changes to the default wallpaper every time the Facebook app is updated. Any resolutions to this?

My daughter has the same issue on her SG5 5.0 verizon. I don't have this problem on Note4 5.0.1 At&t. Every time Facebook app updates the wallpaper changes to the default on her phone. Anyone found a cause/solution?

If your wallpaper is on the secondary storage (internal or SD card) and you connect your phone to the PC/Mac as a mass storage device (UMS), even if it's just for charging and you don't actually access any files, the storage gets disconnected from the phone and instead connected to the PC/Mac. It usually can't be accessible by both devices that way, so when the storage is gone and Android can't access the wallpaper anymore, it resets to the default one. Also, the same can happen if you've previously moved apps to the secondary storage and then one of them crashes (or gets forcefully closed and then "stalls" some other reading/writing) which apparently can disrupt Android's storage handler (which then resets/restarts and in the meantime the storage isn't accessible, same effect).

This doesn't happen when you connect the phone as a media device (MTP) or camera (PTP), but then your files may not be as readily accessible from the PC/Mac as they are with the mass storage option because updating the directory listings takes forever.
It's imperfect either way.

I have an S5 with Sprint and I had a picture saved as by background wallpaper and last night as I was watching something on an app, the app crashed and I went to my home page to find out that my background wallpaper had been changed back to default. I do not have or use Facebook. The phone itself did not even reset or show to have updated. This was a little strange to me. I also do not have a secondary storage. I just thought it was odd that when I purchased the phone over a year ago that picture transferred as my screen background from my S4 and now out of nowhere...POOF!!!!...GONE!!!!

I've fixed my problem with my galaxy s5, as just recently my wallpaper kept disappearing and going back to stock screen, well i just went into my wallpaper settings and picked the multi picture live wallpaper i was using before, i think when it did the update it changed the wallpaper settings, it has worked for me so maybe before you do anything major just try and change wallpaper setting back to how you had them, plus do this by the operating system not by the wallpaper app cheers.

When you say to do this by the OS, do you mean through settings>wallpaper ? For me, there are no wallpaper settings. I have an S5 like you.

I have a Galaxy S7 Edge with Android 6.0.1 - Nova Launcher.

My phone changes the wallpaper back to the same image, and does so within a few minutes.

I am setting my wallpaper the normal way, via settings. I don't know what's causing it, I've checked everywhere in the system and options.

I can't believe so many of you are on Lollipop. I got months ago 6.0 and then 6.0.1. I am in Australia with a smaller carrier also, (Virgin mobile).
