Why does Polaris office save every couple minutes?

Whenever I’m editing a document on Polaris office it saves every few minutes and takes a long time to do I can’t keep editing my document. Is there a way to remove this feature and save documents when I finish editing?

It's a slow phone, with a feature designed for a faster phone.

But this way, if the battery dies, you won't lose much work. Imagine typing for an hour ... then the battery goes, just as you were about to save your work. This way, instead of losing the whole hour, maybe you lost 5 minutes. (You'll see that on many forums - you type a while, then they save the work while you're typing. This one says "Auto-Saved" on yellow background in the lower right corner.)
