Why does ringtone switch back to factory setting after software updates?

Everytime there is a system software update my Samsung Galaxy 8 goes back to factory setting, ATT firefly.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using a preinstalled ringtone or a custom one? If the latter, is the ringtone saved on Internal Storage or the SD card?
